staging almost silence

wood sculpture

2014

Staging almost Silence is a root wood sculpture, which looks like creaturE, an animal head or torso. Set up at a rural off site road in the mountains in Anatolia. The Object is decorated with a traditional Anatolian silk scarf, the shading of the roots and the wind makes the scarf move from time to time.
Staging a lightly decorated wood sculpture, Representing an act of almost silence. How do we perceive, get along with almost or complete silence when in contrast we live in an overcrowed commercial enviornment? What do we do with ourselves when confronted with almost nothing to be overflood with Information and technology? Waiting for bypassers reactions, which seems long when waiting for something to happen within a state of nothingness or do we perceive Nature and it cycle more intensely.
