UTOPIA
2024
a new series of nostalgic pulp and nurse paintings.
Remembering the stories and book covers, fictional imagery of pulp and romance novels and their nostalgic stories of love, cohesion, adventure and betrayal, as well as the stereotypes of imagery, combined with my own input of imagination.
Playing with that imagination of Imaginary, exploring the relationship between realism and abstraction, but also have a room for story telling within my compositions. Which are somewhat utopian in their contents and realtionship with each other.
Monsters and fairy tales. Dinosaurs and fictional weird looking characters, overlined by abstract color schemes. Thick and fine brush strokes, quick and slow painting styles and mainly a sense of playful Imagination. Linking the repetition from the series `Untitled-Erasure` into this series. It´s like floating from one notion and conceptual artwork to the next. All are connected and linked when you look at them closely unfolding and following the red yarn among them.
